“A great loop for those who like a bit of a challenge.”
— Darin Millsap
This 3.5-mile loop can be accessed from any of three connectors. The Steep Creek Connector (WC2)
and Northwest Connector (WC3)
from the Tall Oaks Trail
, or WC4 from the Thompson River Trail - North Loop. The multi-use trail can be done in either direction and is a mixture of smooth tread, lots of roots, a bit of rock, and some short ups and downs.
Although it's well marked, the corridor is often overgrown and can be difficult to see as it doesn't see a lot of traffic or maintenance. This gives it a great remote backwoods feel as long as you don't mind a little bushwhacking. Some sections can be very rough from horse hoof prints in the soft dirt.
Watch for downed trees and bring some bug spray as ticks are present.
