“Beautiful hike just below second highest point in Pennsylvania. 2.5 hours at good pace.”
— P KB
Features: Fall Colors — Spring
Started at Three Springs Trail leading uphill over logging road. At we'll-marked intersection, followed Mountain View Trail downhill through acres of ferns. Trail is narrow and has stones crossing spring-fed stream. The hike turns steeply uphill for a good workout before returning to parking lot.
Trails and intersections are well-marked leading to many possibilities for longer dayhikes. The Mountain View section requires boots, and I was glad I was using poles. Blue Knob is a beautiful place with few visitors, so you'll be hiking in a peaceful setting. Easy access from I-99 only 15 minutes from Blue Knob. Nice day trip from State College or 35 minute drive from Bedford.
Flora & Fauna
Ferns are incredible on Mountain View Trail.
