This unmaintained section of trail starts off of the Vallecito Trail #529 at the meadow near Stormy Gulch. After crossing Vallecito Creek it travels up-slope and crosses Trinity Creek a number of times before reaching Trinity Lake.
The first half-mile is relatively easy, but the second half-mile has many downed trees and it's easy to lose the trail. From here, the route gets much easier to follow even if the grade is steeper. Eventually, runners will arrive at a junction with the eastern end of the Lake Silex Route. Continuing to the right soon leads to a large pond marked with a rock cairn. Trinity Lake isn't too far further up the trail, but there one last section of steeper grade to contend with before reaching the several campsites near the lake's shores.
