Overview

Runners seeking a scenic trip will enjoy this route on the Ice Age Trail. Out and back, the route offers rolling terrain and a few navigable hills to spice things up.

Description

This portion of the Ice Age Trail leaves from the Evergreen Grove parking lot in Lapham Peak. It is a really fun singletrack trail with some rocks, roots, sand, and dirt. The trails cuts straight through the middle of Lapham Peak and out to Highway 18.

The first .25 mile is flat and then there's about a .78 hill leading to the tower. Once past the tower, you head back down the other side with some fast semi-technical trail crossing over the Black Loop twice. Once you make your way out of the park and onto private lands, the trail eventually cuts through a prairie and then Boys Home Road. When you hit that road there's approximately 1 mile to Hwy 18. The round-trip mileage is approximately 7.4.
