— Five Rivers MetroParks
Horses not allowed on this trail. Dogs must be leashed.
Features: Lake — Views — Wildlife
Can get a little muddy in sections. Great for beginners though.
Adults and children alike will love exploring the blend of nature, history and community at Possum Creek. Hike together in one of Ohio’s best examples of a tall grass prairie. It’s hard to imagine that this home for butterflies and bluebirds was once degraded farmland. Argonne Lake’s open vistas of woodlands and wildlife provide the perfect setting for fishing for catfish, bass or trout. Youngsters will love visiting the farm to see the barnyard animals and learn about the food we eat. Camp overnight or picnic with family and friends. Discover remnants of the past along the Argonne Forest Trail. Come back often to enjoy the seasonal changes and make outdoor memories that will last a lifetime.
The pink trail is a short, very easy 1.5 mile loop hike that is great for young families. You can also learn more about Possum Creek before it was a MetroPark by looking at old streetcars, dance floors, and vistas along the hike. The trail remains flat throughout, although it is not accessible by wheelchair unless you go along the paved portion of the trail to Argonne Lake.
