Update

The course for the beautiful ten-mile trail race in scenic O'Neill Regional Park.

Jodi Hoose

Overview

A lovely ten mile trail race in O'Neill Regional Park.

Description

From O'Neill Regional Park Group Area 2&3, head out on the road towards the park entrance/ranger station. Turn left up the park road (the ranger station should be on your right-hand side). Turn left at the first chance up O'Neil Park Road. Turn right to head up Paw Foot Trail, which begins your journey on the trails.

The first two miles of the trail are the hardest part, with several moderate-to-difficult climbs. ALL of your elevation gain in the first two miles! Paw Foot is a twisty and wide fire road, which turns into Live Oak Canyon. On Live Oak Canyon, the trail straightens out, and you can see beautiful views from the top! Stay on Live Oak Canyon, turning left at the intersection of Live Oak/Coyote Run, where you see a great view of the Monastery.

Stay on the trail until you reach Monastery Road, and turn right, heading down. Use caution on the downhill road, as there is live traffic. It's extremely limited, but there MAY be cars! At the bottom of Monastery Road, turn right onto Hoffman Homestead. The next two miles are shaded singletrack trails, on a slight downhill. When you exit Hoffman Homestead, take a left turn onto the road, followed by another immediate right turn. Follow the road back to the start/finish area!
