You must register at the Paso de Cortés refuge to gain access to the area.
The real challenge of this race is the altitude reached at the turnaround point (4,850 m). Climbing to this altitude will push you to your limits.

Description

The Sky-Izta 21k starts at Paso de Cortés and heads toward the Iztaccíhuatl (the sleeping woman). The race combines rural road with singletrack. It is a out-and-back race and requires medium-advanced experience in mountain races as the ascent and descent are long, steep, and challenging. The race tops out at around a breathtaking 15,890 ft/4850 m of elevation.
