Update

Breathtaking views, glaciers, and runnable singletrack, make this route a joy to run.

Overview

Trails are often closed due to bear activity. Watch for signs. My original route was completely closed due to grizzlies.
An out and back on Swiftcurrent Lake Trail followed by an out and back on Grinnell Glacier Trail, and then finishing with a loop around Josephine Lake Connector.
Features: Lake — Views — Wildlife

Need to Know

Bring bear spray.

Description

This route is completely singletrack. There is an initial climb to Granite Park Chalet that is challenging, and there are many switchbacks with opportunities to see wildlife including bears. At every turn you'll be met with stunning views.

The second climb takes you up toward Grinnell Glacier. Mountain views and views of glaciers abound, and the scenery is breathtaking. The run ends on flat, easy singletrack around Lake Josephine, where there are also good opportunities to see wildlife including moose.

Flora & Fauna

Grizzly bears, brown bears, moose, and deer.
