“A stunning trail with lakes, some climbing, and wilderness away from the tourists”
— Bill Sycalik
Featured Race Aug 4, 2016
This run will treat you to beautiful views of two gems of the Grand Teton National Park - Jenny Lake
and String Lake. In addition, you'll enjoy a long rolling run on the Valley Trail
which gets you away from the tourists.
Features: Fall Colors — Lake — River/Creek — Views — Wildlife
Need to Know
The trails are very well marked. Watch out for bears and other wildlife. In the busy season, there are a fair number of people on the popular trails but get out onto the Valley Trail
a bit and it clears out almost completely.
Carry bear spray and know how to use it. Make sure to have enough water or a filter.
Staring at the String Lake boat launch, loop counterclockwise around Jenny Lake
and String Lake via the Jenny Lake Connector
and String Lake Trail
. Take the Valley Trail
from Jenny Lake
area all the way to Teton Village. Have your car or a ride waiting for you.
The Valley Trail
is rolling with several good uphills and long downhills all the way to Teton Village. Note that the end of the run is not within the National Park boundaries. I was sure to complete 26.2 in the Park before continuing to Teton Village.
Flora & Fauna
Marmots, deer, bear (black and grizzly).
