The first three miles of the 20K loop are on pavement.
The course is marked with ribbons for year round use.
Runners can choose between 5K, 10K, 20K, 40K, and 60K distances. 5K, and 10K runners have different starting areas (you'll be taken to them by buses). The 20K, 40K, and 60K runners all take of from the same spot, which is also the finish line for all distances.
The largest hill is about 5K into the 20K loop. It's a butt kicker, so use the paved downhill leading up to it as bit of a breather to prepare for "Steel Hill
." Though the course will continue to be rolling after this hill, there's nothing quite so strenuous, so congratulate yourself at the top!
