Need to Know
Great Restaurants all over, especially Schäfler on top of the mountain.
The Seealp lake invites for a refreshing swim to relax.
Steep trails, good shoes are a requirement.
Trail starts down at the train station or parking lot in Wasserauen.
The first part is steep and a long uphill with a first possible Restaurant stop at Ebenalp. To save some energy, there is also a Cablecar connecting the trainstation and Ebenalp. Saves about 1.5 to 2 hours of walking.
Another hour uphill afterwards until the Schäfler Restaurant.
From there on, most of the ascent is completed, the narrow and sometimes difficult trail follows along the ridge towards Säntis mountain.
Beatiful sceneries accompany this part of the trail, with views of the mountains to your left, and the Swiss midlands to your right. On clear days you can see even all the way to Germany and even the Alsace in France and Austria!
There are several possible shortcuts available with steep descents to Seealp See down in the valley to your left.
Once down by the lake, the trails get easy, only with a last steep(!!!) descent just after the lake back down to Wasserauen
Flora & Fauna
Especially in late spring, wonderful flowers down by the lake.
