Runner Notes

Not a rolled trail, grass may hide obstacles that can cause a runner to trip and/or become injured.

Description

This is the first trail out of the trailhead and is a nice rolling run through a grass prairie. Red-winged blackbirds frequently sing to you as you run, deer or turkey may be around the next turn or maybe a harrier, and a hawk or kestrel will be flying overhead.

The colors of the grasses and flowers are breathtaking during the seasons of the year and can be enjoyed by all. You can run Trail 1 by itself or pick up Trail 2 and head deeper into the Riverside Natural Area for even more natural beauty.

Flora & Fauna

Various milkweed plants as well as prairie forbs.
