Need to Know
Leave the cattle gates how you find them.
From a quick pace through the camp roads, you come to a gate that puts you on a well maintained trail system. The trail winds up a and down along the hills and smaller drainages finding their way to the Mokelumne. Some rocks as steep technical sections. Some open views of the lake and river. Good coverage from the oaks as you make your way up... near Campo Seco, the trail opens up to grassy fields, then passes a historic little ranch house with a bit of climbing before the turn around. Then do it all in reverse.
Better views are rumored to be further out on the 50 mile course. Next time...
