Need to Know

Be sure to allow plenty of time for parking in Gold Hill. Parking is limited and carpooling is recommended. Parking for participants will be available at the Bluebird Lodge and along the road in Gold Hill.

Description

The race starts and finishes at the historic Gold Inn located in downtown Gold Hill. From the start, the race heads out on a steady climb on Gold Hill, a wide, dirt road. At just past 2.5 miles, runners will turn onto the Switzerland Trail where they will enjoy a scenic run through ponderosa pine and aspen forests while taking in spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Runners will take a right onto the Pennsylvania Gulch where they will face challenging climb to connect back up with the Switzerland Trail. After taking a left back onto Switzerland Trail, runners will wind through the woods around the base of Bald Mountain before heading on a short climb up Sugarloaf Mountain. Runners will be able to enjoy the views from the top of Sugarloaf Mountain and catching their breath on the way back down.

From Sugarloaf, the course continues on Switzerland Trail back to its junction with Gold Hill Road where racers will turn right to head back down to town and the finish line at Gold Inn.
