Runner Notes

A relatively unsurprising trail with good footing, not much elevation, and beautiful views making a great out-and-back option.

Description

To access this trail, head to the trailhead at the southeast corner of the parking area at South Rim Visitor Center. Go south on this relatively sun-exposed route where you can expect to come across a variety of plant life from sagebrush and Gambel oak to pinyon pine and Utah juniper.

This trail features a number of gorgeous views of the Gunnison River and the steep walls of the surrounding canyon. A great example of this is Tomichi Point.

This trail passes the Uplands Trail at around 0.75 miles before ending at the Campground Loop C off Rte 200.

Flora & Fauna

Juniper, sagebrush, pinyon pine, and Gambel oak.
