They say the journey is just as important as the destination, so enjoy this one! The Red Loop features a steep uphill followed by fun descent.
After splitting away from the Yellow Loop, your run will lead you through, around, above and below the Rose Ledge outcrop, a local climbing area.
After passing by the ledge, the Red Loop climbs to the summit of Northfield Mountain. Here there is an optional 300 yard round trip to an overlook of the reservoir. The view will captivate you, but don't lose focus of the trail ahead as this is one of the more technical loops.
Departing the summit, you'll begin your downhill journey back across the mountain and down to the transition and all the fun happening there. Many of these miles are singletrack and provide a fun and challenging New England race experience - no doubt leaving you with a smile ear to ear.
