Description

Starting at the trailhead at Rocky Heights Middle School, head south on the Douglas County East West trail Griggs to Monarch until reaching the gate going into the HRCA trails. Left/North goes up the Wildcat Mtn loop. The middle loop is Watering Hole and the far SouthEast loop is Ponderosa. No tree cover on this route and only one small water crossing, but plenty of ups and downs and ins and outs to keep your attention. Not too technical, but you get the feeling that you're far from town without having to go too far. Plenty of deer, coyotes, and summertime rattlers to keep you alert too.

Cloudy, chilly day. Mostly had the park to myself and the few bikers were super considerate. It was a wonderful escape in the middle of the burbs! 8.2mi

The majority of this trail system is on private property and closed to the public (HRCA members and their guests shoud be prepared to show their membership card). I think it'd be difficult for HRCA to prosecute, but as a non-member, the threat is enough to keep me out. Aug 27, 2016
