This is one of four races in the Mad Moose Trail Series, which is a series of low cost trail races in Colorado Springs. The half marathon course covers a majority of the trails in Cheyenne Mountain State Park, and gives you a great chance to see all that the park has to offer. Cheyenne Mountain has a diverse eco-system with lots of wildlife, most of which is featured by this race. The higher in elevation you go, the more wooded the trails become and better the views are of the city of Colorado Springs. Plus, in May, the flowers and trees will be blooming!
While runners will have two major climbs throughout the course, the grade is mellow, and the hills are conquerable! This is a great trail half, especially for those new to trail racing.
