The Moore Mountain Runs (MMR) are Klamath County's premiere trail running event and part of the Southern Oregon Trail Series! MMR boasts one of the best half-marathon trail courses in the Pacific Northwest. Over 80% of the course consists of high quality singletrack and includes sweeping views of Upper Klamath Lake and Mt. Shasta. The 1/2 marathon is a hill climbers paradise with 1600' of climbing. The 5k is fun and technically challenging with minimal elevation gain.
Features: Lake — River/Creek — Views — Wildflowers — Wildlife
Sections can be very technical so watch your toes!
The race starts out with a warm up on one mile of pavement then splits off onto singletrack trail that takes you zig zagging up to the top of Moore MT. After you peak at about mile 4 the trail takes you through a very technical 1/2 mile section of rock garden so watch your step. The course traverses down the hill to a section that parallels the Link River canyon with some rolling trail that lets your legs get back into a rhythm until you enter the "sidewinder" portion of the course. If your hip flexors were not tired yet they will be! The course twists and turns back down the canyon and through the Ridge view portion of Moore MT. and back to the pavement and the finish.
Flora & Fauna
Beautiful views overlooking Klamath Lake. Keep your eye out for great views, abundant wild flowers, deer and hopefully not a Cougar!
