“The Alpine Leg Run of the 2015 Ski to Sea Relay”
— Tad Davis
Featured Race May 28, 2017
Closed winters as determined by the amount of snow.
This is a great event to be a part of as it kicks off the Ski to Sea Relay Race from Mt. Baker to Bellingham. Huge crowds and over 400 teams participate, so the atmosphere is unrivaled for a trail race in the US.
Run in 2015 initially due to lack of snow. It is unknown if this leg will be repeated or not as it depends on the future snow pack.
Starting at the northern end of the White Salmon Day Lodge parking lot, run through the lot heading back out the access road. On the right of the access road take the dirt road and begin climbing immediately.
Continue on this road/Cat track until just past the mile where you approach a big curve to the left. At the apex of this curve continue up the steep track more to the right (if you miss it, the "main" track will peter out in the next half mile or so and you'll know you've missed the turn).
Continue up and then down a steep rocky section. At the ski lift post, cross two streams and take a left onto a singletrack which will turn into a cat track, again. This will wind around and flatten out as you approach the road at Heather Meadows. Hit the road and run the loop clockwise to the exchange zone.
History & Background
2015 was the initial running of this leg due to lack of snow.
