A fun run with lots of short but steep hills along the Fox River.

Overview [Suggest Changes]

This area is nice because it is a good spot to get some elevation changes in an otherwise flat Illinois. None of the hills are very high, just lots of quick elevation changing. There is a lot of singletrack, but also some wider paths that are generally flatter, which give you some time to rest and recharge, or warm up / cool down.

Runner Notes [Suggest Changes]

Trails consist of rocks, roots, an easy creek crossing or two, and lots of short but steep hills. This park is used by mountain bikers so keep your eyes open. Watch out for mosquitos.

Description [Suggest Changes]

Start out with a flat and wide track trail as a warm up, while you catch a great view of the Fox River. As you progress, the trail becomes more rugged and more fun. You'll swear you're on a roller coaster with the steep but short rolling hills.

Flora & Fauna [Suggest Changes]

Lots of waterfowl in the standing pools of water. I also saw a muskrat.

History & Background [Suggest Changes]

This land was once a strip mine, and a portion of it was a landfill as well.
