It seems like nobody knows of this trail, but it's a real gem and a short drive from the front range. A really cool "lookout" rock formation on top with full 360 views of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Indian Peaks.
Need to Know
Parking is VERY limited at the end of the dirt road. You may have to run in.
Start off with a gentle forested trail along a creek, passing a few well-marked intersections. Cross a few streambeds and continue up heavily forested terrain on excellent trail.
You'll reach a saddle after 1.5 miles or so, where the trail levels off and the trees open up a lot. It is VERY easy to get lost here! Use the mobile app to stay on the trail.
Take a left at the saddle (it will be tempting to go right) and try to find the easiest path to the summit. You might find cairns, but you might not, and it doesn't matter as long as you keep heading uphill.
At the summit, there is a really cool rock "lookout." Scramble up to the top and enjoy some of the very best views of the area: Twin Sisters, Longs Peak, the Saint Vrain valley, and the Indian Peaks.
