2017 Park City Trail Series
This thread is to discuss the Park City Trail Series coming up this summer in Park City, Utah.
Registration is now open for the 2017 event. This series consists of a 5k, 10k, 15k, and a half marathon with one race per month June through September.
The races take place on the Round Valley trail system in Park City, Utah. The Start/Finish area is at the Quinns Junction trailhead near the Park City ice rink.
Racing is on a mix of dirt roads, double tracks and single tracks with a nice mix of ups and downs and nice vistas of the surrounding area. Each month the race is longer with more technical terrain. Friendly Dogs are allowed on the trail system. Runners with dogs must start with "the dog pack" after the general start.
This is a fun series for those new to trail running as well as long distance runners looking to practice their speed and race tactics. Past events have drawn everyone from 60+ year old lady trail crushers to Olympic cross country ski athletes.
Carpoolers to the event will be entered into a special carpool raffle for gas cards and prizes. Finishers of each race will recieve a commemorative SiliPint--the best unbreakable, dish-washable, squishable cups for camping and home use.

Sign up now to race or volunteer. Working at an aid station is the best place to watch the action.
The PCTS 5k was a couple weeks ago on June 10. The weather was perfect and the vibe was nice. Winning time was 17:51 and 2nd was only 3 seconds behind. Fastest woman came in at 21:29. The course was primarily double track with some single track after the aid station. It was perfect day for running and we had a wide mix of speeds. It was great to see all the first time trail racers out there!
Organizers of the PCTS teamed up with Kodiak Cakes to make the PCTS 5k into the Race To Save Bonanza flats. Kodiak maxed out their $10,000 challenge donation to get people out on the trails. and runners came up with about $2000 for the cause. In the end, the PCTS was just one of many grassroots efforts to Save Bonanza Flats. In total citizen donations, grassroots fundraisers, donations by a coalition of preservation agencies, and municipal allocations and bond sales were combined to raise $38 million keep the fences and empty mansions out of over 1000 acres of forests, meadows, ponds, and some great back country ski runs. Thanks to all involved.
There's still time to get into the PCTS . . . . Use the code TRAILRUNPROJECT for $15 off any one race or $60 off the "Series" price. Thats only $115 for a 10k on July 8, 15k on August 12, and a half marathon on September 16.
