I am new to this forum and apologize as I am sure that this question has been asked several times but I need advice on shin splints. I recently got into trail running a few months and worked up to the point where I was doing between 16 and 20 miles per week. All was fine and well until last week when I started to experience a shin splint on my left shin. I started to do some shin splint prevention stretches after my runs but it doesn't seem to be doing me much good. At this point I'm not sure how to proceed. Should I take some time off? If so, how much time should I take off? As far as the preventative stretches go, what works best and how much time should I dedicate to this per day?
