Travel interfering with marathon training -- taper sooner or later?

I'm training for an October trail marathon, and looking out on my schedule I notice that on two of the seven weekends leading up to the event, I will be traveling and luckily unable to do my long runs, and certainly not on trails. So I'm planning to shift the long runs -- either a week earlier, or later. Which would be the best plan? That is, is it a bigger risk to ramp my training up faster and have a long taper, or push it back and have a short taper?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
