Mud Springs Trail System
Overview
These trails are in the Mud Springs Trail System. Not sure how to add them all to one system. Info for the system...
The Mud Springs Trails are the region's first purpose-built, machine-constructed mountain bike trails. Open to all non-motorized users, including Class 1 e-bikes, the project is being developed in two phases and will feature approximately 20 miles of trails upon completion.
Opening April 15th, riders can enjoy the first seven miles of Phase 1, which includes two loop options: RADium and YellowCakeWalk.
All trails in the system are directional and clearly signed at each junction. For both loop options, begin your ride on Up235, climbing to the high point before a short descent to the junction of RADium and YellowCakeWalk. Both loops offer fun, flowy downhill sections that guide you back toward the trailhead.
Because the trails are machine-built, they are constructed on a 3–4 foot-wide bench cut, making them beginner-friendly while the terrain still offers an aerobic challenge. More advanced riders will find the terrain engaging and playful, providing a refreshing contrast to Moab's classic rocky trails—plus, there are berms!
The trail system is also open and accessible to riders using handcycles. Handcycles are three-wheeled bikes designed for riders with various disabilities, allowing them to experience the same non-motorized trails enjoyed by hikers and mountain bikers. These cycles may be hand or foot-powered, or use throttle-only systems.
If you encounter a handcycle on the trail, please be courteous and patient. When passing—or allowing them to pass—wait until you reach one of the frequent wider pullouts along the trail to ensure everyone's safety and enjoyment.
Please note that the Mud Springs Trail System observes a seasonal wildlife closure from December 1st to April 15th. Respecting this closure helps ensure the completion of the full trail system. Riding during the closure period could jeopardize the project and delay or reduce the total planned trail mileage.
The trails will reopen April 15th, 2026, with seven miles of trails ready to ride. Please continue to follow trail directionality, as many sections include fast downhill segments that are unsafe for two-way traffic. If hiking or running the trails be aware there are fast downhills for bikes with limited sight lines. Please if enjoying the trails by bike or foot refrain from using in-ear headphones and listen up for other users on the trail.
MUD WARNING! The system is high in clay soils and does not hold up well when wet. Please do not ride during or after rain or snow events. Doing so will leave ruts and damage the trails.
Use caution turning off of HWY 191 onto Yellow Circle Road as the turning place is in a passing lane.
