After the Run: Local Favorites

Pasta Vita Chicken piccata and shepherds pie are the two best meals here. Go for the bread pudding if you're feeling the extra sweet tooth!
225 Elm St, Old Saybrook CT — (860) 395-1452
Mystic Market Great atmosphere and wonderful freshly mixed salads. A perfect quick stop off 95!
Cloud Nine Catering and Deli The white chocolate brownies and 7 layer bars are to die for (but save those until after lunch). Get a 1/2 soup 1/2 sandwich and you'll get the best of both worlds.
Pizza Palace Great Greek pizza
Som Siam East This is a great restaurant. I definitely recommend it!
Luigi's Restaurant EVERYTHING is amazing!!!
Pizza Works Get a wheel of foccacia with marinara sauce
The Tea Kettle Restaurant The pancakes, breakfast. It's our favorite place in town
TJ's Restaurant & Pizza Steak and cheese grinder is awesome
Saybrook Soup & Sandwich Co. I've only had one thing here, the BLT. Very good. Maybe a little pricey but a good lunch.
Johnny Ad's Drive-In Author Huntley Fitzpatrick based The Clam Shack in her novel My Life Next Door on this restaurant. "I transported it to the beach, but it is the same place." http://www.HuntleyFitzpatrick.com
Mindy K's Deli The menu is awesome and colorful!
Jack Rabbit's Try the New Yorker dog... outstanding.
254 Main St, Old Saybrook CT — (860) 510-0048
Alforno Ristorante & Brick Oven Pizzeria Wonderful specials! Seasonal fare. Great pastas and Northern Italian dishes. Brick oven pizza and crusty artisan bread is worth the trip! Unbelievable selection of fine wines. Friendly service!
Cuckoo’s Nest Mexican Food Queso dip is nacho cheese and pico de gallo is crap. Margaritas were decent at least.
Tissa's Le Souk Du Maroc Great food, great people!
Creative Cooking: A New Orleans Restaurant Gin & Tonic comes in a pint glass! And Beefeater is their house gin…nice!
The Griswold Inn This is the oldest continuously-run tavern in the US. Founded in the late 1700s, it has been under the stewardship of only 6 families & during Prohibition local yachtsmen came for the entertainment.
36 Main St, Essex CT — (860) 767-1776
Olive Oyl's Fresh, gourmet foods at an awesome price. Fresh ground espresso and artisanal rarities make this a unique food destination in the idyllic riverside village of Essex.
77 Main St, Essex CT — (860) 767-4909
