Description

This section of the NET starts at Route 2 and runs up to Northfield. The trail crosses over Route 2, then turns right onto Holmes Street. Use caution when crossing Route 2 since it's sometimes difficult to see or hear the cars behind the hill. It turns left onto Wells Street, then right onto Cross Street. Here, the trail passes by a small parking area for Section 16.

At the corner of Cross Street and Briggs Street, the trail enters the woods and follows along Briggs Brook. The trail climbs up to the southern edge of Northfield Mountain Reservoir and skirts it for a ways. It passes by Gold Dot Trail and Hermit's Castle Trail. It travels moderately to Mountain Road. At the road, the trail turns left to follow it.

At the town line, the trail turns right, down an old woods road. It turns left off this road onto a singletrack through the woods. When it reaches South Mountain Road, the trail descends on the road to the right. In a short distance, it passes by South Mountain Cemetery (on the right). The trail turns left onto Gulf Road and follows it until it reaches the parking area by Brush Mountain Conservation Area. This is where Section 16 of the NET ends.
