Need to Know
In the summer, there are indoor restrooms. The one fountain by the restrooms works occasionally (I always bring my own water). Two parking areas - one off of Deer Park Road and one off of Lyons Mill Road. This trail starts at the Lyons Mill parking area. For a shorter run, or if you have kids, use the Deer Park entrance. From the park, it is a 5-minute drive to various strip malls.
Runner Notes
Path is smooth, but be on the lookout for fallen branches - especially after a big storm. Large debris is usually removed in a few days (may take longer in the winter).
Description
Northwest Regional Park is a multi-purpose area that includes plenty of free parking, 2 artificial turfs, 1 grass football/soccer field, 4 baseball diamonds, a small children's playground, 3 pavilions with picnic tables, and an asphalt running trail.
Half of the trail travels through a wooded area which provides a bit of cool in the summer heat. The trail is very easy, with only one slight incline (the forest loop near the baseball diamonds). Due to the location's proximity to the Baltimore Ravens training camp, you may occasionally spot a member of the organization jogging along the path.
Flora & Fauna
Outside of the wooded area - grass. In the wooded area, some ferns, brambles, and vines (all kept trimmed back from the pathway). Occasionally a deer can be spotted wandering by. Woodpeckers have been spotted.
