Need to Know

Parking is available on Stone River Road.

Description

This path is a wide and well-maintained dirt path connecting between Stone River Road and Old Leeds Road. At just over a half mile long, the path is a great option for families or beginners. Dogs are allowed on leash (and you'll find several dog stations along the path).

The trail passes by the historic side of the old Irondale blast furnace, dating back to the civil war. About halfway through the trail, you can see the remains of the foundation where the furnace once operated. Several plaques tell about the history of the area and the facility. You can pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on one of the scenic benches across from the historic site.

This is an out-and-back trail so you can turn around at any point to customize the length of your run.
