Description

The Fort Circle Hiker-Biker Trail, part of the larger Civil War Defenses of Washington, begins across Erie Street SE from the Anacostia Community Museum. It's easy to follow through the woods. There are a lot of ups and down; it's not a huge amount of elevation change, but you do climb and drop a bit.

Be prepared for the road crossings, there's one about every mile or less.

Flora & Fauna

The trail is through the woods, except for the road crossings. I've seen deer occasionally.
