Description

The road to the fort is a steep climb with a lot of switchbacks. It offers a commanding view of the Lac du Mont Cenis (lake).

The fort is one of three built by Italy in the 1880's across the valley to guard against a French invasion. The second was destroyed during construction of the dam and the third (Fort du Ronce) lies across the lake and is accessible on the Sentier des 2000 or as part of the Lac do Mont Cenis loop.

The fort is in pretty good condition except for one of the battlements that was used to test new cannons in 1910.
