The usual wilderness area regulations and restrictions apply. The trail is usually closed by snow from November to June. The best times to visit this area are in late spring or fall since mosquitos are often thick and fierce from June to early September (or first frost).

Description

The Nannie Creek Trail (USFS #3707) begins at the Nannie Creek Trailhead, enters Sky Lakes Wilderness just east of Lather Mountain, and heads west to pass the Puck Lakes after about 2.5 miles. A short spur trail provides access to these beautiful alpine lakes. Puck Lakes offer high-mountain fishing and swimming in a quiet and secluded setting.

The #3707 then continues on to end (4.3 miles from the trailhead) at a junction with the Snow Lakes (USFS #3739) and Sky Lakes (USFS #3762) trails. Along the way, the #3707 crosses an open slope of plate-like shale rocks with views south to Mount McLoughlin, Pelican Butte, and the Sky Lakes Basin.

The Snow Lakes Trail provides access to the Pacific Crest Trail (USFS #2000) along the ridge to the west. The Sky Lakes Trail runs through the center of this wilderness, providing access to other wilderness trails along the way.
