Description

Like Dunestone, Boondocks can be done as a single loop from the lower Klonzo parking area or as part of a bigger run (try Klonzo - Lower Loop).

Starting from the top end of Boondocks, you'll be at the edge of the mesa top looking down over a red dirt valley littered with clusters of white sandstone formations. Follow the purple paint stripes to the right (Dunestone is bright green).

The trail descends quickly through a break in the rim, across a saddle and around to another intersection. Stay right to take the eastern leg of the Boondocks loop - a more open and rolling feel. Going left will take you through more twists and turns among boulders. Both legs end up at the bottom of a wash at an intersection with Dunestone. From here it's a short punchy climb up and over to get back to the lower Klonzo parking area.
