Khao Sok National Park is an amazing refuge for virgin tropical rain forest. Though it's hard to fact-check, it's often said that this park alone is more diverse than the Amazon Basin Rainforest. Whether that's true or not, it's certainly an indication of the kind of biodiversity in the area.

This trail starts from the western entrance of the park. The start of the path is not as well marked as the Khao Sok Main Trail, so you may have to go around the Visitor Center to find the trailhead. After 15 minutes there comes a bridge which leads to a viewpoint. Dont take that way, it leads back to the village. Just follow the small path straight ahead.

The trail ascends along the Bang Laen River with beautiful views of the running water. The path is steep and riddled with tree roots, so sure footing is required. Also, be careful of muddy conditions. Also bring along enough water with you if you dont want to drink out of the river. Expect to see many birds along the way.

Be cautious and alert for snakes, leeches and spiders. Also look out and listen into the treetops. If you are lucky you will see some monkeys.

The Sip Et Chan Waterfall at the end of the trail is situated above a large pool, and the boulders strewn about are a great place to break for lunch.
