Description

From the parking area at Pawlings Farm/Walnut Hill Barn, head south. When the road turns west, continue south towards a No Biking sign. You'll be on an unnamed path through the wetlands.

Turn to the right at the first intersection (before reaching the large seasonal pond in front of you). Follow this path as it wanders through the remains of a large retention bond built to hold back coal laden sediments dredged from the Schuylkill River in the late 1940's-early 1950's. The trail will work its way back out to the gravel road portion of the Commissary Trail near Sullivan Road and the River Trail. This basin was designed to hold water, and thus the trail can become muddy (and flooded at times).
