Runner Notes

A short spur with a chunk of elevation as an added challenge. This trail can be overgrown so there's a chance you'll be moving brush and ferns aside or getting wet after recent rainfall.

Description

Given the proximity to Hwy 199, this area can have some lingering noise from the roadway. That said, duck into the deeper, denser woods on this spur, and you'll forget any car noise was ever an issue.

This trail is used less frequently than the longer trails in the area and doesn't have any through connections. As an out-and-back spur, though, it's fairly short and worth the time for the remote sense of calm and quiet.

Look for the plaque that dedicates this grove and marks the end of the trail.

Flora & Fauna

California bay, tanoak, Douglas-fir, Pacific madrone, and salal, huckleberry, and thimbleberry. Look for trout and salmon in the deeper corners and eddies of the river.
