Need to Know

The trails are used by hikers, trail runners and mountain bikers so be aware of other users particularly where sections of the trail are not very wide.

Description

There are several access points that exist along this trail, with two popular ones being on High Drive and West 21st Ave, where there is a pullout for parking a few cars. Further up on W 29th Ave is a slightly larger pullout for parking. And as you continue up High Drive there are more pull outs on the right to park and access the trail. Trails start as far north as West 14th Ave and continue along South High Drive as far as West 57th Ave.

There are over 20 miles of trail to choose from, with many switchbacking up and down the bluffs. The multitude of trails allows you to select a route with as much distance and elevation gain as you'd like. The main trails contour along the bluff with intermediate levels of elevation gain and loss and those wanting a more vigorous workout can choose one of many trails that switchback down the bluffs and then back up.

While there is noise from Highway 195 below, the views to the west and north make up for it and these trails are best enjoyed during an evening sunset.

The trails in the area feature many old growth pine trees, as well as opportunities to experience wildflowers in the spring.

Flora & Fauna

Springtime features blooms from arrowleaf, balsamroot, and serviceberry.
