Overview
This trail provides an excellent opportunity to view the Olympics temperate rain forest. The first 1100ft. is barrier-free and accessible to individuals in wheelchairs. A great trail for families with children, and viewing scenery and wildlife.
Need to Know
A Northwest Forest Pass or a Golden Passport (Eagle, Age, Military, or Access) is required on each vehicle parked at the trailhead. Day & Annual Passes are available at Forest Service offices and vendors. Note: A $5 day pass is available at trailhead. Restroom at trailhead.
Runner Notes
Generally used by families, or hikers taking this interpretive trail very slowly, this is not an optimal running trail. Choose another route if you're looking for a workout.
Description
The Rain Forest Nature Trail is a short 1/2 mile nature trail with colored signs interpreting the Olympic Rain Forest.
Flora & Fauna
Dense old-growth conifer forest with lush understory of rainforest vegetation. The trail parallels Willaby Creek Gorge for a short distance which is home to ferns, moss, and lichens.
